Imagine, for a moment, heat loss in a home. Heat escaping through any one window or door is not noticeable, but the total effect is huge. Similarly the cost of syllabus management can be hard to identify because it is spread over many locations.

The syllabus is no longer just a piece of paper exchanged on the first day of class, there is a hidden cost associated with every time a syllabus is created, printed, exchanged, reviewed, revised, and referenced.

The Syllabus Institute is currently conducting surveys and compiling data on the costs of syllabus management. We have determined that there are five core areas that pinpoint how much it costs to manage syllabus on campus through traditional, manual processes: Time, Printing, Administrators, Mandates, and Infrastructure.
